Poem

O Bongo, so many gems in your store!
Still I (what an ignorant!) , neglecting
You, went abroad getting mad to obtain
Other’s wealth and hurried to start begging.
Losing happiness, how many days I
Passed! Letting body and soul surrender
To insomnia and hunger, I spoiled my
Life to adore the worthless; I played with
Algae forgetting Lotus-paradise.

Your deity Lakshmi told me in my dream,
‘O lad, so many gems in your mother’s
Treasury, why are you in a beggar’s
Appearance then? Go back home, o great fool.’
I obeyed her order and in return
Got the mine of mother-tongue full of gems.
