Judith Wright was an Australian poet, environmentalist, and political activist born in 1915 in Armidale, New South Wales. She is known for her powerful and insightful poems that explored themes of nature, identity, and social justice. Wright published her first collection of poems, "The Moving Image," in 1946 and went on to publish many more collections throughout her lifetime. In addition to her literary pursuits, Wright was a vocal advocate for environmental causes and was actively involved in the Indigenous rights movement in Australia. She died in 2000, but her work remains widely regarded as some of the most important in Australian poetry.
