Gwen Harwood was an Australian poet and playwright. She was a major figure in Australian poetry and her work reflects her interest in classical literature and her experiences as a mother and a wife. Harwood's most famous works include "In the Park" and "Father and Child." She was awarded the Order of Australia in 1991 for her services to Australian literature and her work continues to be widely read and celebrated in Australia and around the world.
