William Butler Yeats was an Irish poet, playwright, and leader of the Irish Literary Revival. He is widely considered one of the greatest poets of the 20th century, and is known for his imaginative, lyrical, and often mystical style. Yeats was a master of the sonnet form, and many of his best-known poems, such as "The Lake Isle of Innisfree" and "When You Are Old," are sonnets. He was also a central figure in the Celtic Twilight movement, which sought to revive interest in Irish folklore and mythology. Yeats was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1923, and his work continues to be widely read and celebrated today.
