Robert Burns was a Scottish poet and lyricist born on January 25, 1759 in Alloway, Scotland. He is widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland and is known for his poems and songs that celebrate the country's heritage and culture. Burns began writing poems and songs in the 1780s, and his first collection of poems, "Poems, Chiefly in the Scottish Dialect," was published in 1786.
