Dylan Thomas was a Welsh poet, playwright, and broadcaster. He was born in Swansea, Wales and began writing poetry at a young age. He first gained fame with the publication of his poem "And Death Shall Have No Dominion" in 1933. He went on to publish several more books of poetry, including "18 Poems" and "The Map of Love." Thomas is best known for his powerful and emotive use of language, and his poetry often dealt with themes of death, love, and the natural world. He also wrote several plays, including "Under Milk Wood" and "The Doctor and the Devils." In addition to his writing, Thomas was also known for his charismatic public readings and performances of his work. He was considered one of the most important poets of his generation and his work continues to be celebrated and studied today.
